The Avila Beach Farmers Market can be found on the promenade, perpendicular to the Avila Beach Pier. The market is seasonal, open every Friday between April and September. Depending on the night, purveyors can sell produce, fish, and grains, as well as prepared foods like desserts and pastries. Several fantastic restaurants stand within feet of the Avila Beach Market, too, including The Custom House, Ocean Grill, and Blue Moon Over Avila. Just remember: for health and safety reasons, pets are strictly prohibited at any farmers market in San Luis Obispo County.

When is the Avila Beach Farmers Market?

The Avila Beach Farmers Market takes place on the Avila Beach Promenade every Friday evening, from 4-8pm, May 6th through August 26th 2022.

Getting to the Avila Farmers Market

There are a few ways to get to the Avila Beach Farmers’ Market. Try the Avila Beach Trolley, which offers free rides from several locations, including Pismo Beach and Shell Beach. Stop off at 1st Street in Avila Beach to reach the Farmers Market, and get a free “Market Buck” every time you ride! Alternatively, cyclists and walkers can take the Bob Jones City to the Sea Trail from the trailhead at Ontario Road or San Luis Bay Drive.

For drivers, free parking is extremely limited in Avila Beach, especially on market days. Find pay parking lots in the center of town, typically about $6 per day.

Avila Farmers Market Concert

Dance beneath the stars with bands of all kinds at the Avila Beach Farmers Market! Musicians sing, strum and tap to the beat on the Avila Beach Promenade every Friday night between April and September. The tunes are thumpin’, the jive is jumpin’, and the view is stunning. This historic pier once imported and exported goods, materials and passengers from around the world. A major player in the Central Coast’s development, the pier hosted a light gauge rail line for transport to nearby San Luis Obispo. Though the action has slowed since its heyday, the pier remains one of the only driveable piers in the nation. Come for the seaside scenery, fresh fish market and restaurants, and seal viewing.

Point San Luis Lighthouse

Built in 1890, this well-preserved example of Gothic Prairie architecture still lights the way, visible up to 17 miles offshore. Reach the lighthouse with a docent-led hike along the Pecho Coast Trail, take a shuttle, or even kayak into a nearby cove! Make a tour reservation, and soak in the views, history and heritage of this important Central Coast landmark.

Just inland from Avila Beach, See Canyon boasts some of the most historic apple orchards in the nation. Take the scenic route along See Canyon Road, tasting apples at Gopher Glen Apple Farm, See Canyon Fruit Ranch, and others. Don’t forget to grab a glass of cider or apple wine at Kelsey See Canyon Winery, paired with a picnic on the lawn.
