Pomar Junction Vineyard & Winery

Owned and operated by the Merrill Family. Tastings are by appointment only in our private wine cellar and vineyard.
The Merrill family’s agricultural heritage and grape-growing history dates back at least eight generations on California’s Central Coast. Today, owners Dana and Marsha Merrill keep the tradition alive, farming the Pomar Junction Vineyards along with their son, General Manager Matthew Merrill, while Winemaker Jim Shumate works the magic of transforming sustainably-raised fruit into a collection of popular small-production wines.
After nearly 30 years of growing grapes for many of California’s finest wineries as Mesa Vineyard Management, Inc., the Merrills decided to take the plunge and produce their own wines, purchasing the Pomar Junction Vineyard in 2002. In addition to grapes from the family estate, the Merrills also have first pick of the finest blocks from their vineyards in Santa Barbara and Monterey Counties for Pomar Junction wines. Every Pomar Junction bottle contains wine from fruit exclusively farmed by the Merrills, who believe that control from planting and pruning through harvest, fermentation and cellaring is critical to their success and reputation for excellence. It also ensures a uniform dedication to sustainability, which Pomar Junction champions as one of the first SIP-Certified wineries with the Central Coast Vineyard Team.
