Ah Louis Store

The first Chinese-American store in San Luis Obispo County, the Ah Louis Store was founded in 1874 by On Wong, known locally as "Ah Louis." The building served as a general store, post office and bank for the more than 2000 Chinese laborers building the railroad in SLO County. The structure was made from bricks that Ah Louis made himself, and he also made bricks for the roundhouse, the old courthouse, and the east wing of the Mission.
