While the rest of the world celebrates the harvest in autumn, the rich bounty of the earth lasts all year round at the Avila Valley Barn. Ripe peaches, juicy berries, crisp apples, and a cornucopia of locally grown vegetables are displayed in baskets and crates inside an open air barn. Sample freshly roasted corn or order a sandwich from the deli and soak up the sun during your visit.
Two distinctive gift shops showcase unusual kitchen wares, jams, jellies, cheeses, candies, and toys, plus homemade baked goods. The fresh fruit pies, cobblers and turnovers are popular with visitors and locals alike. You might also find yourself locally made ice cream from Slo Maid or taking home some fudge as gifts.
This unique farm and stand also offers plenty to entertain the young and young-at-heart during your visit. Take part in a traditional tractor ride, get acquainted with the goats, horses, sheep, chickens and ponies at the petting zoo, and enjoy the always popular pleasure of picking your own fruit during U-pick seasons.
The Barn started as a single table along Avila Beach Drive in 1985 and has grown in stages over the years. But the goal remains the same, to provide guests with fresh and locally grown fruits and vegetables.
